The home of former world number one squash player Sarah Fitz-Gerald is for sale at 173 Bay Road, Sandringham.
Former world No. 1 squash player Sarah Fitz-Gerald AM has served up two Sandringham properties in a matter of weeks after making a tree change.
Fitz-Gerald, who is regarded as one of Australia’s best ever female squash players, has a string of accolades to her name including Commonwealth Games gold medallist, two-time British Open champion and six-times world team champion.

Fitz-Gerald this week put 173 Bay Road, Sandringham, on the market.
She purchased the home and intended to rent it out as an investment …
… but ended up staying for eight years and renovating the bayside pad.
Sarah Fitzgerald is one of Australia and the world’s most successful squash players.
She’s now looking for a winner off the court, having listed her four-bedroom abode at 173 Bay Rd (above) with a $1.25m-$1.35m price tag for a September 4 auction.
“We bought Bay Rd as an investment property,” Fitz-Gerald said
“My husband (Cameron) has a building background and he did a bunch of renovations. The idea was to live there for about two years but builders are the worst when doing up their own homes, so it took about seven years.”
The listing comes less than a week after the sports star hit big on her childhood home at 35 Spring St, selling it for $2.02m on Saturday. Fitz-Gerald bought the property from her mum in the 1990s.
“That was my family home,” Fitz-Gerald said.
“Mum and Dad married — they had six kids, cats, dogs, birds, you name it, in that house.
“It had a swimming pool and sporting equipment in the backyard — and it had lots of extensions and renovations to house six kids. When my father passed away I bought it from my mum, I did some renovations and had big dreams for it, but I got to the point where my life had just changed”.

The Bay St property has four bedrooms.
And two bathrooms.
Fitz-Gerald has since moved to the country.
She has since made a move to an acreage in Highlands, near Yea, from where she and her husband travel across Oceania for their business building squash courts.
Fitz-Gerald said while the Covid-19 had stopped her playing squash regularly, she was still heavily involved in the sport through her work on local and international boards.
Marshall White Bayside agent Kylie Charlton said the Bay Rd property was perfect for a “family who wants to get into the Sandringham market”.
“It’s north facing at the rear and it has a really big shed at the back, which is fabulous for someone who has a workshop or tools,” Ms Charlton said.

She also recently sold her childhood home at 35 Spring St, Sandringham, for about $2m.
“Sarah’s husband used it for his work and tools and stocks and supplies. And the house itself has really just the perfect floorplan: open-plan living out to an alfresco deck, all bedrooms on one side. It really flows well.”
Ms Charlton said the property had already sparked interest from local bayside buyers as well as house hunters from the inner east.
“There are still a lot of people still really keen to buy their beachside dream home, we just need some more supply,” Ms Charlton said.
She said Fitz-Gerald was a “humble” and highly accomplished person both on and off the squash court.
