Political commentator Jake Thrupp makes buy in Sydney’s Double Bayon 10/08/2021 at 2:43 PM

This Double Bay unit has sold.

Much celebration has followed the first home purchase by aspiring conservative political commentator Jake Thrupp in Double Bay.

It seems his rental days amid the Paddington almond latte crowd are over soon following his off market $1.08 million purchase late last month through PPD agents Kane Dunkley and Catherine Dixon.

Set in an art deco block of 19 close to Redleaf Pool, the two-bedroom unit last traded in 1995 at $185,000.

Jake Thrupp.

Thrupp is a senior producer for Alan Jones on Sky News, along with being the social media manager for the controversial broadcaster.

Thrupp also writes the occasional column, with his most recent Spectator column arguing NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian had lost “all the good faith and political capital” during the recent Greater Sydney lockdown. It was only a few months ago, when to mark Jones’ 80th birthday, that Thrupp joined Berejiklian, for a late night private dinner at Matt Moran’s Aria restaurant.

It last sold in 1995.

Thrupp, aged 24, moved to Sydney in 2018. He studied politics at Queensland University before transferring to Sydney University to complete his degree last year. He briefly worked in the marketing arm of Justin Hemmes’s Merivale restaurant group.
