A WESTERN Queensland family has splashed $3.2 million on a ‘weekender’ mansion on Castle Hill.
The eye-watering price was achieved in an off-market sale, and was sealed by Smith & Elliott principal Sally Elliott.
It is believed to be the third highest price paid for a property in the blue-chip suburb, with another off-market sale in 2020, which was settled earlier this year, smashing the previous record of $3.85 million.

The new record was set after 1300 Smiles managing director Daryl Holmes snapped up a Stirling Drive hillside mansion for $6 million.
The residence had previously been home to Adam and Daniela Carmichael, who moved to Brisbane after selling their Townsville car empire.
Ms Elliott said the latest big sale was to a family from western Queensland who intended to use the property as a weekender.
“I knew this house was coming up for sale and I knew the owner had a valuation done,” she said.
“The buyer wanted something large with stunning views that was classy but not over the top.
“They wanted a lovely garden, a pool, and this ticked all of those boxes.”
Located at 33 Yarrawonga Drive, the property sold on May 24 and settled last Friday.
It was previously home to the family of Townsville construction manager, John Galloway.
Ms Elliott said there was more buyers waiting in the wings for the right home to come up.
“I have a few more looking in that price range, well in the high $1 million to around $3 million,” she said.
“That’s a good mix of locals and people from out-of-town, some with an agricultural background.”
